Bucks Changing the Economy

Bucks changing the economy
By: Jacob Dundon

For the last couple of years the Milwaukee Bucks haven’t always been the greatest and well known team, but ever since the firing of Jason Kidd as head coach and the recent hiring of Mike Budenholzer they have started to grow in talent and this year might be the first of many years that the Bucks have a very high chance of making it to the finals. It is mainly these expectations of the bucks that are causing the the economy to change.

With the Bucks success this year the economy is being changed mostly by Giannis becoming an allstar and his possibility of winning MVP is causing the franchise value of the Bucks to increase greatly in 2017 the value was 785 million and the now in 2018 the value is 1.075 million, but Giannis can’t do it alone, he has a very solid team following right behind him every step of the way helping and guiding Giannis to that MVP title.

This higher potential for the MVP title for Giannis is also causing his marchandise to be more desired for all Bucks fan’s. Giannis jersey is now the fourth most popular jersey in the NBA which is the highest Giannis has been in his entire career. This has also cause Milwaukee bucks fans to attend a lot more home games and by that more companies in the new arena are getting more business.

  1. You can say that Jason Kidd was a bad coach when this all star your talking about begged for them to let him stay plus he brought a terrible Milwaukee team to the playoffs the year he was let go. Anyway really easy to talk about because giannis is playing like a man with his hair on fire so when an all star plays at the level giannis has in the years in the past you don't even have to research is the economy changing because how do we think the fiserv forum came up great piece though

  2. This is good, it talks about how the Bucks are changing the economy and how. The Bucks have been playing a lot better, and you can see the changes in the economy by how much more people are coming out and supporting them, by buying more jerseys, coming to more games, and so on. I also think it would've been a good idea to include the fiserv forum because that has also made a huge impact on the Milwaukee economy

  3. I didn't know that Giannis's jersey is the fourth most popular to buy. Even if people don't go to the games in Milwaukee, there it still a positive impact. More team merchandise sells, and more people become invested in this team. With more revenue going towards the team, they can spend more on finding good players like Giannis and trying to form an even stronger team. In the end, the Bucks will have prosperous years ahead in my mind, and like you said, that is good for the city around this team.

  4. It is truly crazy to think about how one person can change the whole economy of a sports team. It is also interesting to think about how an MVP can change the economy of a team. With a person that wins an MVP award comes so many pathways for revenue to flow in, with the main one being merchandise. As a player grows in value to their team, other NBA patrons around the world also jump on the bandwagon and follow the player by purchasing merchandise. It is also very easy to be a fan of Giannis because his story shows a true rags to riches event, where he was impoverished back in Greece and his family could barely feed him, to becoming one of the most skillful basketball players in the entire world.

  5. It's a great idea that you were able to show those different graphs to help support your paper as a whole and you did that effectively. However, when you talk about the firing of Jason Kidd and the hiring of Mike Budenholzer, I think that it would be important to talk about what month that hiring happened and find a graph that shows the jump in franchise value during that month. Otherwise you have a great graph that shows the Milwaukee Bucks franchise value but it doesn't have to do with what you talked about in terms of Mike Budenholzer's impact that you had explained.

  6. It's crazy to think that Giannis can help carry a franchise and city back to importance to the public. But I think one thing that's underlying that not many people talk about is the change in ownership. The change in ownership was huge with the play on the court and economically too. It's really cool to see that the merchandise is flying off the shelves, and that's impacting the economy of the entire city of Milwaukee.
