Social Media’s affection
Social media is supposed to be entertaining and performing positive communications between friends and families and not taking away any family time. As we all know holidays are coming up so families are planning on get together and spend time together but social media can affect the bond between the families. Although this can affect the families it could also have a huge impact on Businesses, Politics, and just seclusion itself. Many people have experienced bad relationships with their families due to social media and how it has affect the economy. According to Jenny, she said, “Net savvy companies are using social media to advertise their products, build customer loyalty and many other functions. Interactions and feedback from customers help businesses to understand the market, and fine-tune their products and strategies. Many firms organize contests and give away prizes to enthuse consumers to visit their social website page more often. Compared to television advertisements and other expensive forms of marketing, social media presence is a cheap and effective means to enhance brand image and popularity” (Jenny). Although families wanna spend their time together around this time of year, companies and businesses also wants to increase their supply around this special holidays were mostly everyone celebrate so consumers could increase their demand for their product.
The graph above shows how much/which social medias are being used the most so the companies could advertise their product on that specific social media. The huge problem about social media is that families are getting together to spend time together but social medias are taking their time away from each other. This will only benefit the businesses and companies because of their advertisements, on the other hand people who are using social medias are not interacting with their own family instead they rather read statuses or scrolling down on instagram liking each others pictures. The increase use of social media would increase the quantity demand which will also increase the quantity supply.
Finally social media has its advantage and disadvantage, it could benefit the companies and businesses but on the other hand it could be a drawback when it comes to families, when they have a family time. Even though this writing is about how social media's could affect the families, companies and businesses, it can also affect productivity and politics. Overall social media’s has a huge impact on the economy.

I agree with what you are saying in your post. Social Media has a very large impact on today's society, whether it be the younger or older generations. As families come together for the holidays, we find that more and more of us are being disconnected from each other. In reality the social media companies are the ones making the money and enjoying their holidays soaking in their bath tubs. The bath tubs are green and are filled with green dollar bills. In all social media companies are taking away families from each other and this problem needs to be fixed.
ReplyDeleteI agree that social media is definitely becoming a larger role in society as time goes on, but I do not think it is for the best. Yes, it may be easier for businesses to advertise and get their names out there, but it is causing people to grow farther apart from each other. We are staring at Facebook so often that we barely talk to people outside of it and that is sad. But for the economy, it could be a good thing. We are very influenced by what we see online, so if we are constantly staring at social media, those advertisements on there will have an even greater impact on us than they would on tv or on a billboard. So yes, I agree that social media is good for the economy, but it is definitely hurting our social lives.
ReplyDeleteThis was an interesting topic. I agree that the holidays should be a time for family. It is ironic though that people spend less time with their family and more time shopping, even though they are shopping for their family members. Although social media does play a role in this as some stores may advertise good deals that people feel they have to take advantage of, I feel as though this is inevitable especially around the holidays season because people are always going to be out and about buying christmas presents during the holidays no matter what sales are going on.
ReplyDeleteSocial media advertising is quite popular at the time. Social media advertising mostly benefits the businesses- the large sums of money that they use to have to spend on advertising can now be pocketed. They can simply post an ad for free or pay social media famous people or most often pay websites to advertise for them- usually at low costs. Though, nobody likes watching five seconds of the chevrolet ad before a youtube video, it really benefits the economy. The businesses advertising save money, the people they pay to advertise make a little money, and since the businesses have more money they can charge less for their products which benefits the consumer. Social media advertising is easy and cheap and it hits more of the consumers now that we can fast forward through commercials and spend so much time on the internet.
ReplyDeleteI like this topic since it relates to both modern day pleasures and the time of the year: the holidays. I agree, holiday's should be spent with family members, talking and playing games. However in reality, holiday's are spent with a room full of people staring at their phone screens. Of course, businesses will never stop advertising their things and having release dates scheduled on Christmas Eve or Day. However it's everyone's job to try and avoid these temptations and to just spend time with the family they rarely see. Workers at these businesses also need to open their eyes and realize that there are more important things than making money and gaining followers during this time of the year.
ReplyDeleteSocial media is such a controversial aspect of our society today due to it's ability to break familial relationships so it seems only fair that it plays into the world of business as well. There are many ways businesses use social media: advertising, connections, etc. which causes some influence on the business world. However, your point about it being seclusive is painfully correct. It has torn apart friendships and business deals alike which is a downfall to the use of this newfound ability.
ReplyDeleteNot to be rude but first off I must say that there are so many little mistakes in this writing that it distracts from the article and makes it more difficult to understand... However I do agree that too much technology and too much "screen time" can take away from any relationships- not only families.
ReplyDeleteOver the past few years social media has affect our society. Both negatively and positively. While it has promoted business for companies, more and more people are becoming distracted by it. Driving and texting and enjoying family time are just a few examples as to how it negatively affects our economy and society. This was an interesting topic to write about, because it controversies. As for my family we make it a big deal not to be on your phone when with family. There are plenty of other times that you can scroll through Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. It makes sense as to why so many businesses are trying to promote business during the holidays, and that's because there is a lot of online shopping going on and companies can take advantage to that. But there is a time when promoting business should not trump family time. Overall this was a very interesting topic to write about.
ReplyDeleteI agree that social media has an affect on the economy, as well as the relationships that are made or broken because of it. We seem more connected, but we are almost as disconnected as we could possibly get when we are focusing more on the advertisements and pop-ups on our devices instead of those standing right in front of us. Maybe if there was some sort of regulation between companies advertising abilities during the holidays or “family times” people would be more willing to get off their phones and share with those around them. Families also have the chance to set their own rules about phone usage, as it would be difficult to regulate each company’s creation/development/advertisement of goods over those short vacations.
ReplyDeleteFrom the moment we are born we are surrounded in a world full of advertisements, bill boards, and commercials all trying their best to plant a seed in our minds to buy their product. Its a very obvious topic that influences both business and consumers, You did a good job making a clear description between the connection of social media with the economy. However I feel you could've touched on the negative aspects of social media on companies. Such as when they get slandered on social media or bad reviews. However I feel like you did a good job with picking a topic, as well as connecting it back to the economy.
ReplyDeleteI definitely agree with you about how social media can affect family time during the holidays. It is a time where most families are getting together for the only time of the year, and it probably isn't for very long. I believe that it is mostly with our generation, but phones are a HUGE part of our lives and so is social media. Everything seems to be about Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Tumblr, and even just texting in general that we all forgot what is actually is to spend quality time with family members or even just those we love. I think you did a good job on your post, so don't listen to the haters!
ReplyDeleteI agree the demand for more and more businesses to have community outreach is particularly high now and days because of customers always being on there Facebook, Emails etc... Most of all the opportunity cost will be likely to increase due to making everything within reach via cell or desk top. You might have more customers looking at your product but what about going into the store. No one is going to come in if you have a website where you can order what you want right than and there.
ReplyDeleteI agree that social media definitely distracts families from interacting with each other. Family time is something that our society rarely gets now a days, as each member of the family always has their own gathering each night of the week. However, the advertising that happens on social media is very beneficial for companies. Often times I'll see very popular Instagram or Twitter accounts advertise a company's products. A pretty genius way to get your product out there if you ask me, because the people that follow the popular accounts probably respect the account and respect the people running the account.
