In the long history of Air Jordan and the constant releases of new Jordan shoes almost every month, there has never before been a Air Jordan baseball cleat to hit the market. However, this October, release information regarding the Jordan baseball cleat surfaced, and revealed that they will release 4 different colorways of the Air Jordan 12 - baseball cleat edition.
Rumored to hit the stores late October or early November just in time for the MLB playoffs, sneaker enthusiasts are very excited, especially the ones that are baseball fans. That is why this release has created a lot of hype for sneakerheads as the MLB playoffs start up, and the release of these exclusive Air Jordan 12 cleats gets closer.
The most astonishing news about this shoe though, was the price. Retailing at about only $95, these shoes expect to create big sales around its release. Although other substitutes to these baseball cleats such as Nike or Under Armour can be purchases for half or even ¼ of the price of Air Jordan cleats, consumer taste of these athletes will still cause many people to purchase this new cleat. Plus, because 2016 is considered to be the year of the Air Jordan 12, demand for these cleats is expected to skyrocket. Along with that, the low price of these shoes is setting expectations for the supply of them to very high. So, as the MLB playoffs approach, Air Jordan expects big things with these new Retro 12 cleats, and hopes that many athletes and sneakerheads alike will rush to stores to get these cheaper-than-average new Air Jordans.

I think that it is about time that Jordan's finally make shoes for a different sport. I understand the Michael Jordan was a basketball player so that's why his shoes are basketball shoes, but with the reputation that they have built they can make any type of shoes and all they have to do place the Air Jordan logo and they'll make a lot of money.
ReplyDeleteWhile there are many substitutes, because of the price, I believe that these will sell out almost instantly because of the brand that they are endorsed/created by. I expect that there will be a lot of celebrity endorsement for these cleats since they are affordable, as well as popular for the athletes who have managers encouraging them to use these as product placement. Despite the fact that these could sell themselves, soon many players will be wearing these.
ReplyDeleteI find this interesting, since Jordan is a basketball player and his shoes are pretty common for those who play that sport. I would have thought that Jordan would consider making shoes for different sports to receive more money, but now that I see cleats to come, I believe they're headed in that direction. To add, they're also affordable, which is a big idea for consumers. Also, this company is very popular throughout the public, which would make sense if the cleats were to get sold out pretty quickly. Soon, maybe, Jordan would consider making a bigger variety of sports shoes and possibly more products for those in these activities.

While, Michael himself didn’t really have the same professional effect in both sports as Bo Jackson did, it was still interesting to see. The Jordan Collection from 1-31 in basketball shoes are on average more than $250. As someone who enjoys sneakers, I am willing to pay a distinguished amount of money for this specific good. Basketball lovers who also like baseball can look fresh on the field with their own Jordan’s available with spikes now. Jordan was able to play minor league baseball and has multiple basketball shoes related to his days on the field, it's very surprising they are just now venturing into the baseball market. Another shocking thing is the fact that they are only 95 dollar opposed to the typical $160-195 retro price. This line should be a huge success, increasing Nike's profits by even more. Look to see them begin to limit cleat releases to build up hype and demand.
ReplyDeleteThis is a good idea economically, Jordan is already a popular brand and they would be appealing to a wider variety of athletes by releasing a baseball cleat. Going off of how popular the Jordan brand is, they should have no problem selling the cleats, and their popularity should be right up there with Nike and Under Armour
ReplyDeleteThis is really interesting, especially watching the baseball playoffs and seeing major players such as David Price, Miguel Cabrera, and Aroldois Chatman wearing the Air Jordan cleats. I agree wth your prediction that demand wk rise ultimately causing sales and revenue to rise as well. Air Jordan will have a major impact on the cleat industry in the next couple years.

I think it makes sense how the cleats will become much more popular as time goes on due to all the stars wearing them such ass Chapman and Price. Jordan has a control on the basketball industry, and it seems as though now they're getting into baseball quite quickly.

The Air Jordan Brand has been able to sell $2.6 billion worth of shoes in the basketball market, dominating that market. It makes sense that they step out and try something new, looking for increased revenue, with a new product. I think by making baseball shoes, they target a whole new demographic- baseball players. The players will be excited to have the opportunity to buy the new shoes. The shoes are also very affordable, which is very appealing to consumers. I think that these shoes will be very successful, and maybe even sell out, creating a shortage.

Another determinate that has consumers going is the price. These retro shoes are only about 95$ and this is incredible. Retro Michael Jordan shoes retail for around $150-160 and then sell later for even more! What could be a factor for the demand could be the fact that the brand Jordan really isn't involved in the baseball side of things therefore consumers could believe this could be one of their only chances to snag some Jordan cleats.

ReplyDeleteI've never been big into Jordans or up to date on the newest Air Jordans, but these new cleats are really intriguing to me. I think it's so smart of the company to open up it's options and create cleats for baseball players instead of just sticking to their infamous basketball shoes. Because Air Jordans is such a well recognized brand, reaching out to another branch of athletes and creating shoes specifically for their sport will further increase consumer demand and supplier production. I agree, the release of these cleats will bring all kinds of Jordan fans and baseball fans and athletes alike to the stores to buy these shoes.
